Maintenance tips for your cooker hood without exhaust: discover them here

A recirculation cooker hood, also known as a cooker hood without exhaust, is an excellent solution for kitchens without external venting options. To ensure that your cooker hood continues to work efficiently and to prevent cooking odours, there are a few important maintenance and usage tips you should follow.

1. Let the cooker hood run for 30 minutes after cooking

During cooking, your cooker hood absorbs cooking fumes. The grease filter captures the grease, and the recirculation filter eliminates the cooking odours. Since cooking fumes contain moisture, the recirculation filter also becomes damp. By letting the hood run for 30 minutes after cooking, the filters get the chance to dry out, ensuring they remain effective. You can easily set up the run-on function according to your appliance’s manual.

For models that are designed specifically for recirculation, the 30-minute run-on function is set by default. For other models, it is set to 10 minutes to remove any remaining odours from the kitchen.

2. Ensure sufficient air circulation in the kitchen

For your cooker hood to work efficiently, good air circulation in the kitchen is essential. A recirculating range hood can only be combined with a ventilation system that is able to control the discharge of damp air.

3. Clean your cooker hood regularly

In addition, proper cleaning of the grease filter and the inside and outside of the cooker hood ensures your recirculating cooker hood functions well. More information on this can be found in the general maintenance tips for your cooker hood

4. Replace the recirculation filter on time

Recirculation filters have a lifespan of approximately 900 cooking hours or 3 to 5 years (depending on the type of filter). An indicator light will signal that the filter needs to be replaced. For some models, a shorter period applies, such as 120 cooking hours for filters with activated carbon granules. The correct type of replacement filter can be found in the user manual.

By following these tips, you can enjoy a fresh and odour-free kitchen for a long time, even without an external vent. Don’t forget to consult your specific model’s user manual for the most accurate instructions.
