Advantages of induction hobs compared to other hobs

An induction hob operates with inductors that create a magnetic field beneath the glass surface. This field is absorbed by the bottom of the cookware, generating heat. As a result, there is no heat loss. Your pots and pans heat up super quickly and efficiently. Cooking on induction is therefore energy-efficient. It’s also very safe—once the pots or pans are removed from the hob, the glass surface rapidly cools down.

What's the difference between a ceramic hob and an induction hob?

At first glance, ceramic and induction hobs may seem very similar, but there’s a key difference: how they transfer heat. A ceramic hob uses an electric element to heat the entire cooking zone, leading to more heat loss since the entire zone, not just the pan, warms up. This makes ceramic hobs slower to heat and slower to cool down. In contrast, an induction hob generates heat directly in the pan, preventing heat loss through the cooking zone. Once the pan is removed from the induction hob, it cools down immediately, ensuring that no food residue sticks if there are spills. This more efficient heat transfer and cooking method make induction cooking safer and more energy-efficient than cooking on a ceramic hob.

Can an induction hob be connected to a standard outlet?

There are three types of connections: 1-phase, 2-phase, and 3-phase, each with its own power capacity and required outlet. Novy offers induction hobs suitable for both 1-phase and 2-phase outlets. It's important to ensure you have the correct type of outlet, as induction hob consume a lot of power. An incorrect connection can lead to overloading and even dangerous situations. Most of our induction hobs require a 2-phase connection. If you don’t have a 2-phase or 3-phase circuit in your fuse box, it's best to contact an electrician for more information.
